How we feel daily matters. Emotional awareness is important.  Positive emotions drive us forward and negative emotions make us feel down. 

Life is full of stressors and we have to deal with that so that we can do okay daily so that we can meet the next day and its challenges

Stressful Case

The  small business owner had been running her business for several decades and was winding down her career.  She managed her employees well and treated them fairly. 

But an employee decided to sue her and the company.  The lawsuit was nitpicky but it was still a lawsuit and created emotional stress.

Dealing with lawyers and the legal system was quite stressful. She had a fighting spirit which was good for dealing with the conflict but it wore her down. 

Her health worsened and she could not do the activities  she loved to do. 

Because of the stress, she felt tired and depleted. Stress does that to a person.

Our body has two states – stressed and not stressed.   It’s often said that we should all be non-stressed.  But that’s not possible if you’re living. 

The best we can do is manage the daily stress as best as we can.  When we are stressed it is like when we are running away from a bear.  Our body is in survival mode, the stress hormones go up, the blood goes to the large muscles, and there’s tension of the muscles everywhere.

That tension causes headaches, tight muscles, and cramps.

Dealing with Stress

 

 

One can deal with stress by changing the circumstances if possible.  But if it’s not possible, we need to deal with the stress. 

Relaxation therapies such as breathing techniques, acupuncture, and massage can be helpful. Herbs called adaptogens can help deal with stress.  Adaptogens are cool in that they make things normal.  So an adaptogen can calm someone mentally and energize their body at the same time!  What a good deal!

As we go through life daily, let’s be aware of how our mind and body are doing.  If we have a tough day either emotionally or physically we have to be aware of that. 

Then we have to do something about it.  Awareness is good but awareness without action will not help us much.
