Treatment of autism can be quite helpful but unfortunately is not widely accepted. There is talk that not much science is behind it. That profiteering is the reason the autism treatment movement exists.
I can discuss the science behind one treatment and see if that helps deal with one concern.

Leucovorin and Autism
One common treatment for autism is leucovorin. What is that?
Leucovorin is a medication which increases folate which is one of the foundational vitamins in the body. I like to say that folate and b12 helps run the “engine” of the body. In 70% of autism, there is an antibody which affects the folate receptor. When that exists then folate can’t work. And if the “engine” isn’t working things don’t work well, the brain doesn’t work well.
What does leucovorin to the autistic child? Based on studies, around 50% improve language and communication skills. Children could understand better, speak better, and have better behavior.
It also helped mood, attention, and aggression. It could also help the mitochondria which are the batteries in the body. If you’re one that likes to read scientific articles, you can read this article.
This is the science behind One treatment for autism. There is science behind other autism medical treatments. And there is evidence that it works – from what I see and from what parents of autistic children tell me.
I can’t explain why medical therapies for autism is not widely accepted. All I can suggest is talk to parents and doctors who have done biomedical treatment of autism and learn from their experience. Then you can decide for yourself.
