What can be done about snoring and sleep problems? Are there other options besides possibly strapping on a mask?
Head position is important but does the rest of the body make a difference as well? Are there other ways to reduce snoring symptoms?
Posture effects on sleep
The position of the head on top of the neck affects snoring. If the head is too forward then the space to breathe is less than it should be.
How do you tell if the head is too forward? If a line in front of the ear drops in front of the bone on the chest (clavicle) then the head is a little bit too forward. There is a lot of talk about fixing the forward head posture – it’s like having a bowling ball tipping your neck forward. But is that all there is?
I was researching the issue and found out that sometimes the head is forward because the pelvis is tilting forward. In that case, the forward head is compensating for the forward pelvis. When the pelvis is tilting forward then the belly sticks out more than it should and the backside is more prominent.
Posture effects on sleep are important. Fixing the pelvis can help the pelvis be more balanced. One way of fixing the pelvis is putting a pillow underneath the knees when sleeping on the back.
That helps the position of the pelvis and can help put the pelvis in the right position. Other things need to be done as well.
Health is about looking deeper into what is going on. You can look at someone snoring and think it is all because of the head and neck.
But then looking more comprehensively perhaps you will find that it is a whole body issue and not just a head/neck issue. There is a connection between posture and snoring.
Fix the posture and it may help the snoring. Helping the snoring can help you sleep better.
