Have you ever heard of someone developing a red meat allergy? They would be allergic to meats and have a reaction when they eat meat?
It is real, there is a reason why it exists, and something can be done for it!
Allergic to Meats
Alpha gal syndrome is the medical name for when people get allergic to meats. What happens is that a tick bites an animal then bites a human. The person then develops an allergy to alpha gal which is found in animals such as beef, lamb, pork, and deer.
About 6-8 hours later after a person gets bit by a tick they get horrible stomach problems. Then they develop the meat allergy. It starts off with just meats then later generalizes to dairy products.
Oh no – not milk! The symptoms can be different – they may be gut related or they may be related to breathing or it can be straight out severe anaphylaxis – where a person can’t breathe and needs immediate medical attention.
This happens mostly in the East Coast because that’s where the Lone star tick and other ticks are located. But it’s moving northward at a rapid pace and there are some in the West coast.
Unfortunately meat products are everywhere, they’re even in medications. So a person may be allergic to meats, dairy, and medications – that’s not good!
Treatment for Meat Allergy
What can be done? First – you have to recognize that you have this problem. A recent study shows that 42% of doctors aren’t aware of this problem. In Western medicine there is no FDA approved treatment for alpha gal syndrome.
There is a treatment in Chinese medicine though. It’s called Soliman Auricular Acupuncture Treatment or SAAT for short. It involves changing the body and retraining the nervous system so that the allergy is not a problem.
And what is the cure rate? An astounding 96%!!
It involves ear acupuncture and leaving small needles in the ear for four weeks. But that sounds like an acceptable tradeoff when there’s a cure rate of more than 95%.
So if someone tells you they have a meat allergy, pass them along this blog article and tell them about SAAT – an effective treatment for meat allergy.
I don’t do SAAT but you can look up providers mostly acupuncturists who do SAAT on the internet.
