How the body works is pretty wonderful.  Why do I say that?  Because the body is pretty efficient.  Think of the substance serotonin – it helps a person be less anxious and depressed  but it also helps with pain sensitivity.

So one substance helps a person be content AND also lowers pain. It is a natural pain remedy.  Let me tell you about a person who demonstrated this recently.

Improved Mood with Less Pain

The lady had a history of abuse growing up, her older brother was scary – he collected snakes for fun.  Family life was stressful – she developed anxiety and a fear of the world around her.

10 years ago she developed annoying  fibromyalgia as her body would hurt for no reason.  When I saw her, I helped her with some negative emotions she was having.  I placed her on a supplement to increase serotonin.

I saw her THREE WEEKS later and the last couple days she had been in a great mood with less despair and irritability.  And interestingly enough, her pain was better. Her overall pain had decreased.

She was Happy 🙂

Serotonin Effects

So what does serotonin do in the body? What are serotonin effects? It helps a person be content.  Less thinking of the worst case scenario, less thinking gray and more thinking of happiness and sunshine. 

But it’s also involved in how our brain deals with pain.  Serotonin and pain? Yes. With less serotonin, everything’s more painful.  With more serotonin, pain is less as shown in the above case.  It’s a good deal – get happier and be in less pain.

 

So if you know someone who is depressed or anxious and in pain, let them know about this.  Making their serotonin levels more normal will help their mood AND help their pain.  One supplement can help several things. 

There are different supplements to increase serotonin.  Some increase serotonin only whereas others helps the underlying biochemical pathway which increases serotonin as well as a lot of other good things in the body. It is better to increase serotonin and other good substances rather than just increasing serotonin by itself.
